Marvel’s Daredevil Showrunner to Adapt Akira

Marco Ramirez, the new showrunner/writer of Marvel’s Daredevil Netflix original television series has been hired to write a screenplay for a live-action adaptation of the well-revered cyberpunk anime / Katsuhiro Otomo‘s six-volume manga Akira, according to a report on Slashfilm.com. Ramirez was a writer on Sons of Anarchy, Orange Is the New Black, and Da Vinci’s Demons before being a part of Netflix’s original Daredevil series.  According to the report, Warner Bros. has been trying to adapt Akira for the big screen since 2008 when Andrew Lazar (American Sniper) and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way acquired the rights to the adaptation. Obviously this has to be some exciting news for Cyberpunk and Anime fans alike. We’ll keep you posted here at Neon Dystopia.
