A Database for Cyberpunk Movies? Try the Cyberpunk Movie Database!

There are so many times where I’ve needed something like this; whether it is to satisfy a short-term craving for a fresh CP movie, to help me remember the name of one I’ve already seen, to get inspiration from synopses, or to just sit back and smile at the amount of diverse CP material out there.

This is it – the Cyberpunk Movie Database!

There’s an exhaustive list kept up-to-date by ‘microchip’, the site’s owner.  There’s also a forum, links to related sites, and links to reviews in the list itself (where applicable) – a nice touch.

The site explains its own definition of CP, which is helpful, leaning towards a more open and inclusive view of the genre.  microchip states, “As Cyberpunk, IMO, is a spectrum, a film does not need to satisfy all criteria before it can be considered Cyberpunk (to some degree).”

The list certainly reflects that view.  You’ll find classics such as Blade Runner not far from more controversial inclusions such as A Clockwork Orange (read the comments in the review of it and you’ll see what I mean).  This is a good way to go in building the database as it leaves it up to the reader to exclude a movie where necessary.

The last thing you want to do is miss out on a CP movie, right?

Zymepunk was drawn into the world of cyberpunk by Deus Ex and Blade Runner and now looks both back and forwards in time for anything that may come close to those masterpieces.

  1. Is it me or did they update this site recently? It’s very well organized and polished now. Really useful.

  2. I have seen many of these, but now I have a few new ones to add to the list. The best list I have seen since the downfall of the cyberpunkreview.
