Eidos-Montréal has announced on their blog a new game engine called Dawn. So what?
“[The] Dawn Engine will form the cornerstone for all Deus Ex Universe projects at Eidos-Montréal.” The projects they refer to are games on different platforms, novels, and perhaps some other interactive projects.
Additionally, they responded to the rumour and speculation after the initial Universe announcement back in October by stressing that this doesn’t mean they are going to develop an MMO (thank the supreme digital being!).
Well, they haven’t given us much more to go on than that. I for one would love to see a number of titles set in a fully fleshed-out Deus Ex universe, as long as they are faithful to the series’ origins, aesthetic, and atmosphere.
Please no more Invisible War…

Really good news, the fact they built a custom engine translates into a long life expectancy for the Deus Ex franchise.

Indeed it is. I crave video games that have a real cyberpunk feel, and most that try fail. Deus Ex has the potential to be that kind of video game again, alongside Cyberpunk 2077.
